Peggy Fleming with Wendy Faulkner showcasing her NEW necklace!
It ain’t a gold medal, but that necklace sure is fabulous! Peggy Fleming was the big winner at Monday night’s inlu.com “chillaunch” party. No, it wasn’t rigged—she won her handmade pendant fair and square in the night’s fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Guests and friends contributed to support a cause— and to get a shot at winning a handmade piece of jewelry by local artist, Wendy Faulkner of Sweet Flower Designs in Burlington, VT.
The evening was muy chill as people from around town stopped in to check out inlu.com, the crew and the fabulous location: Anjou & the Little Pear consignment boutique on Main St.
Despite soggy weather, people were in warm spirits–chatting and asking questions about inlu.com and its general purpose: to reduce excess around celebrations and holidays.
Inlu offers eco-savvy invitations featuring a built-in collection bucket. When an organizer (ie, a busy mom) creates an inlu, event details are included, guests pitch in and they leave a note. THEN, the site pools and directs guests’ contributions toward either a cash collection AND / OR a donation collection. The result? Less “stuff” that will end up in the landfill, a buy-local opportunity and WAAAY less gas-guzzling-pre-party -runaround.
Monica went on to explain the NEW reality: gifting IS shifting—people are recognizing it’s truly OK to streamline excess for the sake of the planet. It was the perfect platform for us to mention Story of Stuff and its spotlight on the CRAZY side of consumerism.
That was about as serious as the night got. Chit-chat was steady while photographer, Shem Roose, had everyone striking a pose. His lovely wife and assistant, Rebecca Roose, (who doubles as a marketing rockstar for mywebgrocer.com) gave great feedback and suggestions about the site’s functionality and direction as a brand. She and several others who have already used the site took some time to offer feedback and usability ideas. We appreciate it all and we’re happy to say—overall, people are diggin’ it. Among the mix was local artist, Sue Mowrer Adamson, whose whimsical images are featured in the inlu design gallery.
When the night was over, it was off to Drink for a nightcap and conversation with friends and team members. All-in-all, it was a great night. Special thanks to: Rebecca Beaudin of Shindigginit.com, Jill Spell of LaVillaBistro, American Flatbread, Drink, Anjou & the Little Pear, Sweet Flower Designs and of course, Peggy Fleming (vintage bracelet a la Camille K).
Thank again to everyone who came out and thanks for giving us a reason to wear heels and sparkly earrings. Until next time, when we commit to a full-out launch party. Adios!
